Position: Senior Agronomist

Based in Hanoi with frequent traveling to production areas in North Vietnam

To complete our team in North Vietnam, we are looking for a Senior Agronomist, who will be responsible for the sourcing of safe vegetables produced by farmers, farmer groups and farmer cooperatives in Hanoi, Hai Duong and Moc Chau (Son La) following the Quality Standards including Good Agricultural Practices as required by our clients.

Your main roles and responsibilities are divided into four key areas:

„  Sourcing

„  Quality Assurance

„  Research & Development

„  Management

A summary of your main roles and responsibilities can be found below:

„  Prepare the vegetable production plan for year round sourcing of safe vegetables from North Vietnam following the requirements of our client(s).

„  Survey and select farmers, farmer groups and farmer cooperatives to become a supplier

„  Extend the vegetable production plan to a team of agronomists and selected farmers, farmers groups and farmer cooperatives.

„  Lead a team of agronomists in the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices for selected farmers, farmer groups, cooperatives and/or other suppliers.

„  Manage harvesting schedules and vegetable collection points.

„  Develop a strong network among farmers, traders, input companies and government authorities.

„  Understand the key drivers for volume, quality and pricing of agricultural products to anticipate both production and marketing planning (i.e. disease pressure, prices of inputs, seed availability, weather conditions, etc).

„  Develop and set up protocols and systems to follow and monitor field trials

„  Prepare and implement field trials.

Our minimum requirements are as follows:

4  BSc degree in agronomy, plant protection, horticulture or other agriculture science.

4  5 year of relevant work experience in a company; managing vegetable production areas, farmer groups and agronomists.

4  Fluent in both verbal and written Vietnamese communication

4  Good in both verbal and written English communication

4  Excellent knowledge of cultivation and post-harvest handling of vegetables

4  Extensive network among farm input companies and government authorities

4  Excellent communication skills with local farmers, farmer groups and farmer cooperatives

4  Team player, flexible,  trustworthy, reliable, pro-active, result oriented, and can work harmoniously with others

4  Willing to travel frequently between production areas in the Red River Delta (Hanoi, Hai Duong) and Son La (Moc Chau)
